Program: Regional Kidney Care Program - Simcoe Muskoka
Organization: Orillia Soldiers' Memorial Hospital
Description of Services: Programs and services are available through the dialysis clinic. There is access to a team of registered nurses, nephrologists, dietitian, social workers, pharmacists, and technologists. The staff in all services work closely with the transplant hospitals to ensure patients have opportunity for kidney transplant referrals.
 
Kidney Care Clinic
  • pre-dialysis clinics and education sessions 
  • assists patients and families in choosing the best treatment when time comes to start dialysis

Home Dialysis Unit
  • educates patients and families how to manage Peritoneal Dialysis and home hemodialysis treatment 
  • follow-up for patients returning home is available for proper management of corresponding treatment 

Hemodialysis Unit
  • supports hemodialysis at the in-centre hemodialysis unit at OSMH and 3 satellite units across Simcoe Muskoka including:
  • Collingwood General and Marine Hospital
  • Muskoka Algonquin Health Centre in Huntsville
  • Georgian Bay General Hospital in Midland
